A MAN was knocked unconscious during a violent robbery in a park.

The 43-year-old man was sitting on a bench in Hayling Park in Station Road, Hayling Island, when he was attacked.

He was knocked out and the robbers escaped with a brown wallet which contained £80 in cash.

The victim, who needed treatment for cuts and bruises, is desperate for the wallet to be returned as it belonged to his grandfather, who died earlier this year.

Detective Constable Simon Poulter, from Waterlooville CID, said: ‘The man was sitting on a bench, near the path that runs between Bacon Lane and the tennis courts.

‘The victim has asked that an appeal go out to his attackers for the return of the wallet which has great sentimental value to him.’

The robbery happened between 10pm and 11.10pm on Wednesday. Call Waterlooville CID on 101.
