TWO large outboard motors were stolen from a marina, prompting a police appeal for information.

The motors were stolen from Hamble Point Marina, in School Lane, Hamble, at some time on Saturday, November 28 or Sunday, November 29.

A police spokesman said: ‘It is believed that these engines were removed in the hours of darkness causing little or no damage to the boats.

‘Both engines are incredibly heavy which would mean mechanical assistance would have been required to remove them from the vessel which was situated in the corner of the boat yard near the main gate.

‘Information is sort in relation to any suspicious activity or vehicles seen in and around Hamble Point Marina in the last few weeks.’

Anyone with information, or who saw anyone acting suspiciously during daylight checking the area, should call police on 101, quoting crime reference 44150420024.

The appeal is part of Project Kraken – a National Crime Agency, Police, and Border Force initiative to increase vigilance along the UK’s coastline and maritime environment.
