THREE hospital workers arrested on suspicion of the manslaughter of an elderly patient have had their bail extended.

Joan Dixon, 77, of High Street, Findon, near Worthing, died of a suspected overdose at St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester, on October 19, 2010.

Post-mortem tests confirmed the cause of death as toxicity to digoxin, a drug used to treat a number of heart conditions.

A 24-year-old woman and a man, 38, from Chichester, as well as a 42-year-old Emsworth man, have been bailed until May 23.

An inquest was opened and adjourned on November 2, 2010. Police inquiries continue.
