A MAN was repeatedly kicked in the face in a late-night attack.
The 51-year-old was walking past Petersfield train station in Station Road when he saw two teenagers on the opposite side of the road near the railway footbridge.
One of the boys asked him for change for the ticket machine.
The man said he didn’t have any and carried on walking.
A short while later he was hit on the head and in his ribs and fell to the ground where he was kicked in the face several times.
The victim felt someone reach into his coat pocket, which was empty.
Police believe the attack stopped when a passing motorist sounded their horn.
The victim suffered heavy bruising in the attack, which happened shortly after 10pm on Saturday.
The teenagers were white, aged 17 or 18, about 5ft8in tall and slim. The teenager who asked for change wore a white baseball cap, white trainers and dark tracksuit bottoms.
Detective Constable Ewan Gardner is appealing for witnesses to contact him at Alton station on 101.
