A MASKED raider who ransacked a home and fled after being caught in the act is being hunted by police.
The burglar – clad in latex gloves with a scarf covering part of his face – fled after a man returned to his home in Fareham Park Road, Fareham, to find him in the hallway.
The homeowner chased him as he ran out of the back of the house and down the garden at about 1.40pm on Wednesday.
But he got away after jumping over a garden wall where police believe another thief was waiting in a getaway vehicle. When the victim returned he found his lounge and dining room had been ransacked. A large number of electrical items including TVs, computers and games consoles had been stolen.
Detective Constable Sarah Ridler said: ‘It’s highly likely it took two people to quickly carry this much property from the house, and we also believe that they must have had a vehicle to transport it all away in.
‘The homeowner said he heard a vehicle accelerate away at speed from the back of his property a few seconds after the intruder jumped over the garden wall, so it’s likely a second offender was waiting there in a vehicle. We want to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious. In particular, did anyone see a car waiting or being loaded with electrical items?’
The burglar is white, aged between 25 and 30 with short, shaved blond hair. He wore a dark blue, long- sleeved top, faded blue jeans, blue latex gloves and a black scarf covering the lower part of his face.
