TWENTY chickens have been stolen from an allotment.

The theft took place between 3.30pm on Wednesday and 3pm on Thursday at Recreation Allotments, Botley Road, Curdridge.

The offenders forced their way into the chicken coop and took 20 chickens which are described as two Buff Orpington hens which were eight months old, a Buff Orpington cockerel, 12 six-month-old Columbian Black-tails including one which was distinctively pale and one with a white tail and five Warrens.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

PC Jonathan Earnshaw, said: ‘I am appealing for anyone with any information about this incident to come forward.

‘Did you see or hear anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident?

‘Have you been offered any chickens for sale or do you know anyone who has recently acquired some chickens that match the descriptions?

‘If you have any information please get in touch at the earliest opportunity.’
