E-FIT images of two men suspected of attacking someone trying to give first aid have been released by police.
The 21-year-old victim tried to help a man who had been assaulted in Palmerston Road and was lying outside NatWest bank, in Osborne Road, Southsea.
He was putting the injured man into the recovery position when he was set upon by three men between 2.10am and 2.20am on December 4.
They approached him shouting ‘get off him, what are you doing’ and he was left with a cut to his face which needed stitches.
Det Con Fiona Wright said: ‘It was busy in Osborne Road at the time of the incident and the victim had gone to give first aid to an injured man when he was assaulted. It is possible that the offenders misunderstood the situation.’
The first man is white, 6ft 6in, stocky, has a grey skinhead haircut, is in his late 40s, and was wearing a wedding ring, black shirt, jeans and black shoes.
The second man is white, 5ft 8in, around 30 and was wearing a chequered shirt, brown trousers and black shoes. He had three to four days of stubble and brown curly bushy hair.
The third man is white, in his 30s, and was wearing a black jacket, jeans and white trainers. Witnesses can call 101.
