A WOMAN who hit another woman in an unprovoked attack is being hunted by police.

The investigation has been launched after a 48-year-old was assaulted by another woman in Commercial Road near the junction with Station Street.

The victim received eye, arm and hand injuries in the assault, which happened between 3am and 3.30am on Saturday, September 14.

The suspect was described as being white, between 30 and 40 years old, with brown, bobbed, wavy hair.

She is slim and around 5ft 7in.

Investigating officer Det Con Gemma Tullett said: ‘This was a serious assault in a busy area.

‘There were quite a few people around at the time of the assault as the clubs had just closed.

‘In particular, we are appealing for two men who tried to intervene,
and a taxi driver who may have witnessed the assault and given a lift to a
suspect.’

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact CID at Fratton Police Station by phoning 101 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
