DETECTIVES are investigating the death of a pensioner in a care home.

They launched an inquiry after a post mortem examinationat St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester, concluded that Geoffrey Frost-Ward, a 94-year-old resident of Valewood House, a nursing home in Bell Vale Lane, near Kingsley Green, in West Sussex, died from heart failure resulting from a fractured leg.

He was taken to hospital after falling down and breaking his leg on November 9.

A police spokesman said: ‘Detectives from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team have been investigating and residents and staff at the home are being interviewed.

‘Third party involvement in his fall has not yet been ruled out but there has been no arrest at this time. There is no threat to the welfare of other residents at the home.’
