A SHOPLIFTER with a long history of offending has been jailed for a month.

Luke Wilcox was arrested after stealing £70 worth of meat and cheese from the Co-op in Bracken Close, Lee-on-the-Solent, and £40 worth of cheese and meat from the BP service station in Broom Way, Lee-on-the-Solent on the same day.

Wilcox, of Launceston Close, Priddy’s Hard, Gosport, pleaded guilty to two counts of theft when he appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

The magistrates heard he had a history of shoplifting and had committed the offences while he had a conditional discharge hanging over him for a previous incident when he stole a chicken from a Co-op in Gosport.
