SERIAL shoplifter Simon Davison has been jailed.

The bungling 29-year-old pleaded guilty to a string of thefts after being caught stealing food worth hundreds of pounds from the same shop four times in a period of less than two weeks.

Davison admitted stealing £68.40 of food from a the Co-op in Elm Grove, Southsea, on June 15.

He pleaded guilty to stealing £50 of food from the same store on June 10 and food worth £85.96 on June 8. And Davison admitted stealing £38.51 of food from the Co-op shop the previous day on June 7.

Portsmouth magistrates sentenced Davison, from Victoria Road South, Southsea, to two months in prison.

Magistrates decided to make no order for costs or compensation.
