AN 80-YEAR-OLD woman has been left shaken after £5,000 worth of jewellery was stolen from her home.

The pensioner was mowing her lawn when she saw a man who she didn’t know leaving her house in Portsdown Road, Paulsgrove, Portsmouth.

The man is thought to have used a pillowcase from the house to steal a wedding band, numerous nine carat gold dress rings and an 18-carat gold opal ring set in a flower.

The incident happened at about 1.45pm on Friday.

The man was white, of medium build and in his late teens or early 20s.

He was wearing a jacket zipped up to his neck.

PC Alex Saccoccio said: ‘The burglary left the elderly victim very shaken as the jewellery stolen is of huge sentimental value to her.’

Call police on 101.
