BURGLARS brandishing knives punched and threatened a woman during a break-in.

Between 10.30pm and 10.50pm on Wednesday the 58-year-old opened her door after hearing a knock and was immediately struck and knocked to the ground.

Two men entered her home in Blendworth Crescent, Leigh Park, carrying knives and threatened the victim with them until she handed over money.

The suspects then searched her house and took the woman’s handbag and a pink Nintendo DS hand-held games console, before leaving via the front door. Their victim suffered bruises to her face and was left extremely shocked.

The first man was white, 5ft 7in, thin, in his early 20s, and in a white drawstring hooded top with the hood up and dark bottoms. His partner was also white, 5ft 4in, chubby, in his early 20s, pale, and in a black hooded top and dark bottoms. Both possibly had Essex accents.

Detective Constable Simon Woods said: ‘This is a very serious but isolated incident that has understandably left the victim very shocked and upset.’

Anyone with information can call Waterlooville CID on 101.
