A MAN who assaulted a police officer has been ordered to pay compensation.

Edward Dixon, 26, of Byron Road, Portsmouth, admitted assaulting the officer in Commercial Road, Portsmouth.

He also pleaded guilty to assaulting a person in Guildhall Walk, Portsmouth.

Dixon was fined £180 and told to pay £50 compensation and £20 to a fund for crime victims.

He was ordered to pay £85 in costs.
