A MAN tried to use a fake cheque twice in one day.

Jake Robertson, of Braemar Road, Gosport, tried to use the cheque, which was in someone else’s name, for £976 at Cash Converters in Park Parade, Havant, on November 9.

That same day he tried to use the cheque at Cash Converters in West Street, Fareham.

Robertson admitted two charges of fraud by false representation and two of using a false instrument with intent.

The 24-year-old was given a 12-month community order at court. Included in that order was the requirement to attend a thinking skills programme.

Robertson will have 12 months of supervision by the probation service and must pay £50 to Cash Converters.
