A MAN has pleaded guilty to starting a fire at a block of flats.

Hakki Dagdelen, of Washington Road, Buckland, Portsmouth, had been accused of arson recklessly endangering life following a blaze in Forbes Terrace, also in Washington Road.

Eight flats in the block had to be evacuated, but no-one was injured.

Dagdelen, 30, had initially appeared before Portsmouth magistrates in February.

The incident took place on January 31.

He has now pleaded guilty to the offence and is due to be sentenced on September 9 at Portsmouth Crown Court.
