A MAN has appeared in court charged with the attempted kidnap of a 14-year-old girl.

Roger Seath, 41, of no fixed address, entered no plea to charges of attempted kidnap, of a girl who cannot be named for legal reasons, with intent to commit a sexual offence and possession of a bladed article.

Seath will next appear at Portsmouth Crown Court on November 7.

It comes after a 14-year-old girl was approached in Southsea on Wednesday at 4pm.

Following the incident police advised people to stay alert.

A spokeswoman said: ‘Stay alert but not alarmed. Remain vigilant and remind children and teenagers of stranger danger. Report anything or anyone suspicious to 101, or call 999 in an emergency.’
