A man was left with serious facial injuries after an attack in Southsea.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the attack at the Rock Gardens on Southsea seafront at around 6.45pm on July 11.

A 34-year-old man suffered ‘significant’ facial injuries and was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham.

Detective Constable Julia Nicol, of Portsmouth CID, said: ‘We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident last Thursday evening, or has any information to contact us.’

A 22-year-old man of no fixed address has been arrested in connection with the incident and was bailed until October 7.
