MORE than 20 cannabis plants were seized and a man arrested in a raid on a suspected drugs factory.

Hampshire police said officers raided addresses in Rowner Lane and Alliance Close in Gosport yesterday.

Officers said they were acting on intelligence given to them by the local community in Gosport.

A local man, 63, was arrested after the search warrants were executed.

Specialist officers and a dog unit were used as part of an ongoing investigation into the supply of drugs in the town.

Detective Sergeant Howard Broadribb said: ‘These warrants were carried out after concerns were raised by members of the local community.

‘The seizure of cannabis plants from a suspected factory sends a clear message that the supply of illegal drugs will not be tolerated in Gosport.’

In all, 21 cannabis plants were seized from the suspected cannabis factory in Alliance Close.

The man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs and abstracting or using electricity without authority.

Police have now bailed him until January 25 next year pending further enquiries.
