POLICE have arrested a man suspected of running over a police officer.

Freddie Field was arrested this morning at an address in Fratton Way, Fratton.

He is currently in police custody being questioned on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and burglary.

Last month police issued an appeal for information on the 27-year-old’s whereabouts in The News after a female police officer was knocked off her bike in Sedgley Close, Southsea, at about 9.30pm on May 24.

The officer was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries that were none life-threatening.

She returned to work earlier this month.

A police spokesman said: ‘Hampshire Constabulary would like to thank members of the public and the media for their assistance with the search for Mr Field.’
