A MAN was attacked with a bat outside a pub in North End.

Police have confirmed the 23-year-old man from Portsmouth was assaulted outside the Clarence Gardens pub, in London Road.

The attack took place just before 9pm yesterday.

A witness filmed the incident, which has now been viewed over 85,000 times on Facebook.

The victim was left with bruising as a result of the incident and was treated at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham.

Following the assault the two men drove away in a grey Audi saloon car.

Detective Constable Nick Wisdom said: ‘We are following a number of lines of enquiry to identify the offenders.

‘I would appeal to anyone with information to come forward.’
