A MAN who assaulted a police officer has been told to do unpaid work.

Lawrence Scott, who lives care of Lindeburgh Close, Gosport, admitted committing the offence in Gosport on July 12 with intent to resist or prevent himself being apprehended or detained.

The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to possessing class B cannabis in Gosport eight days later on July 20.

He also admitted committing the offence while he was subject to a suspended sentence for producing cannabis.

Scott was ordered to do 40 hours of unpaid work in the next year by Fareham magistrates.

He must pay £60 to a fund for crime victims.

An order was made for the cannabis seized to be forfeited and destroyed.
