FOUR men punched and kicked a man to the floor in an attack.

Hampshire police said officers believe the assault outside A1 Tyres in Claremont Road, Fratton, was racially-aggravated.

The victim, 20, was talking with friends yesterday when he was punched in the face by one man, forcing him to the ground.

All the men, who were white, then punched and kicked him – stopping only when a 17-year-old girl stepped in and they walked off.

He suffered cuts and bruises in the attack.

A spokesman said: ‘One wore a grey hoodie and another a black hoodie and one had a bandana.

‘The man who carried out the initial punch is said to be in his 30s.’

Anyone with information should call PC Darren Tombs on 101.

• Two men, 42 and 28, both from Portsmouth, have been arrested on suspicion of racially-aggravated assault and are being questioned.
