A DRIVER has been banned after drinking two cans of beer while fishing, a court heard.

Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court heard Ian Clarke had been out celebrating his 47th birthday on March 14.

Clarke, of Maple Crescent, Waterlooville, then went fishing on March 16 after having an argument with his partner and drank the cans.

Prosecutor Alicia Keen said police saw him driving erratically on the A3M at junction four heading towards junction three and was veering between lanes.

A test at the station revealed the carpenter was over the 35mcg limit.

Chairwoman of the magistrates Charlotte Carter banned him from driving for 18 months and fined him £350.

He must also pay £80 costs and a £35 victim surcharge.
