The victim was followed by up to five men from the Guildhall area of Portsmouth to Anglesea Road, Park Road and Burnaby Road near Gunwharf Quays where he was attacked at about 3.20am.

Now police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch.

PC Ben Light, who is investigating the incident, said: ‘This was an unprovoked attack on a lone man who was walking home from the Guildhall area.
