A DRIVER has been ordered to go on drug rehabilitation after taking a car.

Adam French, 30, of Gosport Road, Fareham, admitted taking a Vauxhall Astra without consent, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.

He was banned from driving for 28 days.

Magistrates imposed a community order with six-month drug treatment and 20 days of rehabilitation activities as part of his sentence.

He was fined £40 for the driving without a licence and £120 for no insurance.

He must pay a £60 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs for the March 13 offences.

French admitted two counts of failing to surrender to custody and was fined £100.

His guilty pleas at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court were taken into account when he was sentenced.
