A MAN has been found hanging in a garage block in Gosport.

The 30-year-old, from Gosport, was discovered at Claudia Court flats, in Clifton Street, on Sunday morning at 6.43am.

Hampshire police said it is not connected to the death of two young teenagers killed when they were hit by a car at around 4am on Ann’s Hill Road, in Gosport, on the same day.

As reported, best friends Jasmine Allsop, 14, and Olivia Lewry, 16, both of Gosport, died on Sunday after being hit by a green Honda Civic.

A 20-year-old man is being questioned on suspicion of murder in connection with the teenagers’ deaths.

A Hampshire police spokesman said: ‘We can confirm police were called to a report of man’s body found hanging in a garage block near the Claudia Court flats in Clifton Street, in Gosport.

‘The death is not being treated as suspicious.

‘Next-of-kin have been informed.

‘We are aware of community speculation linking this death to Sunday morning’s fatal road traffic collision in Gosport.

‘This rumour is unsubstantiated.’

Police officers are formally identifying the man before releasing his name.

A file will be prepared for the coroner in due course.
