A YOUNG girl has been grabbed by a man while she was using her mobile phone in a park.
The 13-year-old girl was approached by a man yesterdayin Leesland Park, Gosport, at around 3.50pm.
The teenager heard footsteps behind her and as she turned around the man grabbed her by the wrist – she broke free and ran off.
It happened in the park near Whitworth Close.
Police have said the man did not attempt to follow the girl and she was uninjured.
The man, who had a deep voice and smelt unclean, was white with very pale skin.
He was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms with elasticated ankles and white trainers with white laces.
And he had a black or green coloured mark on the back of his hand, which could have been a tattoo.
Detective Sergeant Gemma Hunter said: ‘We have a high visibility presence in the area, conducting enquiries and providing reassurance.
‘This appears to be an isolated incident.
‘However, as a precaution and as darkness is now falling earlier in the day, we would remind everyone to be more aware of their personal safety.
‘Try to make sure someone knows where you are and what time you are likely to be home, avoid walking in secluded areas alone in darkness and keep your personal possessions out of sight.’
