Senior police officer hits out at ‘irresponsible’ drivers after 320 thefts from vehicles

A MAN suffered a cut on his arm when he was set upon in the early hours.

The 25-year-old, from Portsmouth, was walking in Torrington Road in the city between 3.15am and 4.15am on Saturday.

A man demanded money from him but ran off after the victim defended himself.

The police are treating it as attempted robbery.

The attacker was white, in his late teens to early 20s and 5ft 9in.

He was slim and wore a plain black top with the hood up, and grey cargo trousers.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Erica Leigh of Portsmouth CID said: ‘Did you see anyone acting suspiciously?

‘Did you see this attempted robbery or do you know who was responsible?’
