A MAN is due to appear in court following a bomb scare on a train.

As reported, Havant train station was evacuated and armed officers were sent in after reports of a bomb, which turned out to be a hoax.

Trains were delayed because of the incident on January 26.

British Transport Police have now charged a man from Malta.

A spokesman for BTP said: ‘I can confirm that Daniel Gatt, 26, from Malta, has been charged with causing harassment, alarm or distress under section 4a of the 1986 Public Order Act.

‘This follows an incident on a train between Southampton Central and Havant rail stations. Mr Gatt will next appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 24 April.’
