A man has been jailed for 20 years for a series of sexual offences against three women.

Jason Burgess, 42, unemployed, of no fixed address, appeared for sentencing at Lewes Crown Court after being found guilty of 10 offences, which included four counts of rape, one count of sexual assault, and one attempted rape.

The offences, involving three women aged from their mid-20s to early fifties, took place between April 2011 and June 2013.

One of the rapes took place in Petworth, Chichester, while the other offences happened in the Haywards Heath area of West Sussex.

Detective Constable Steve Shaw said: ‘Burgess wormed his way successively into the womens’ lives over a period of time and then abused the trust they had placed in him.

‘He then moved on to his next victim.’
