A ‘LONELY’ man who molested a child has been jailed for 15 months.

Roy Sansbury, 49, repeatedly assaulted the young girl when she was aged eight to 10, Portsmouth Crown Court heard.

Prosecutor Daniel Sawyer said: ‘The girl says she was terrified.’

The truth came out after the girl told her friend, who went to a teacher. The girl’s school then contacted the police.

Sansbury, of Broughton Court, Anchorage Park, admitted five counts of sexual assault on a child under 13. Robert Bryan, defending, said the offences had arisen out of Sansbury’s loneliness.

Sansbury will be on the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.
