A MAN was treated in hospital after being repeatedly kicked in the head as he lay on the ground.

The vicious assault left the 20-year-old victim with severe bruising to his head, back and body along with a broken tooth.

He was struck from behind as he walked through the Somers Town play area between Radnor Street and Dunsmore Close, before being assaulted while he lay on the ground.

The attack took place between 11.45pm on Monday and 12.15am the next day as the man was walking alone after a night out at the Guildhall.

He was treated at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham.

PC Helen Cox said: ‘This appears to be an unprovoked attack on a man who was minding his own business. I am very keen to speak to anyone who may have heard or seen anything relating to this incident. The information they may have could help us ensure the offender or offenders are brought to justice.’
