Royal Navy veteran who stole almost £50,000 to feed gambling addiction avoids a jail term

THIEF Samuel Ballin has been ordered to do unpaid work.

Ballin, 19, of Edinburgh Road, Landport, admitted stealing a laptop from a room at The Foyer in the same street.

He was told to pay £200 compensation and put under supervision and told to do 150 hours of unpaid work by Portsmouth magistrates.
