A man was left with serious head injuries after he was attacked in a Southsea bar on Saturday night.

Police were called to reports of a fight inside the Slug and Lettuce in Palmerston Road at around 10.35pm.

A 20-year-old man suffered a serious head injury and was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham where he had stitches put in.

A 33-year-old Portsmouth man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm without intent and bailed until December 22.

Police now want to hear from anyone who was in the bar at the time, who saw what happened or has information that can help with the investigation.
