The body of a man in his early 20s has been found at a children’s playground.

Police say the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Officers were called to Kingston Park, off Kingston Road, Fratton, at 7am yesterday after a dog walker discovered the body.

A spokesman from Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘Police were called to a children’s play area on Kingston Road, Portsmouth.

‘The deceased is known to have been staying in the Portsmouth area.

‘Police are not treating his death as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.’

Neighbours nearby spoke of the shock.

One resident who didn’t want to be named said: ‘I saw all the police cars and then people mentioned a body.

‘It was shocking, especially in a kids’ playground.’
