A MAN has been jailed after stealing trolleys full of goods from shops.

Jeffrey Mulpeter stole three trolley loads of items from shops in Park Gate and Petersfield. Mulpeter, 38, of St Ronan’s Road, Southsea, was also found guilty of attempting to do the same at two shops in Whiteley and Petersfield.

He also tried to steal several bottles of whisky from a shop in Locks Heath.

Portsmouth magistrates found Mulpeter guilty of the three attempted thefts and three thefts.

He was jailed for 12 weeks.

Mulpeter also breached a conditional discharge when he carried out the offences between January 11 and February 2.

No action was taken on the breach.
