MAGISTRATEs have fined a man for being drunk and disorderly in public.

Balwinder Singh admitted committing the offence in Guildhall Walk, Landport, Portsmouth.

Singh, 43, of no fixed abode, also pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to surrender to custody when he appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

He was inked £350 and told to pay £15 to a fund for crime victims. Singh was ordered not to leave court until the session ended.

Elsewhere, a shoplifter was caught stealing alcohol.

Andrew Andrews, 38, of Queen Street, Portsea, Portsmouth, admitted stealing from Waitrose in Marmion Road, Southsea. The value of the stolen goods is not known.

He was ordered not to leave court until the session ended.

The court made no order for costs or compensation.
