Senior police officer hits out at ‘irresponsible’ drivers after 320 thefts from vehicles

TWO teenagers were attacked and robbed on their way home from a night out.

The victims, aged 18 and 19, were walking home on Winston Churchill Avenue, heading towards Fawcett Road in Southsea when a gang of four men approached them.

They were then assaulted and the gang fled with valuables including a mobile phone, iPod and wallet.

The robbery happened between 1.45am and 2.15am on February 25 but police have only just released details.

Detective Constable Jacquie Foley from Fratton CID said: ‘The two victims in this incident both sustained injuries to their faces, and lost a number of valuable items including mobile phones, an iPod and wallets. This incident took place when people would have been starting to leave the clubs, and I would urge anyone who saw anything to please get in touch.’

The main offender is white. aged 17 to 19, about 5ft 8in tall, of a slim to medium build with blond or ginger short hair. He wore a grey hooded top.
