A BURGLAR who entered a home through an open front door stole money and keys before being confronted by the returning resident.

A woman in her 60s left her flat in Foxbury Grove in Fareham to visit a neighbour’s address at 11.15am on Sunday. Her front door was left open.

At 11.25am she returned to her flat and disturbed a man coming out of her main bedroom. The man ran past her and out of the flat.

The woman then found that her purse had been stolen from her bedroom.

The blue fabric purse contained a post office card, bus pass, around £30 in cash, and two house keys on a key ring with an animal picture.

Investigating officer PC Samantha Gee said: ‘The offender was described as a white man, aged in his 20s, with short dark hair, wearing a white vest style t-shirt and black and white patterned shorts.

‘Were you in this area at this time? Did you see a man matching that description? Do you have any knowledge about the stolen items?

‘Also, please ensure you windows and doors are closed and locked, burglars will look for any opportunity.’
