POLICE are appealing for witnesses after female moped rider ended up in hospital after she was assaulted in a road rage attack.

The woman, who is in her 40s, was riding her moped along Havant Road in the direction of Emsworth town centre when the attack happened.

It is alleged that the moped was in collision with a red Peugeot taxi.

Just a short while later the male driver of the taxi is said to have left his vehicle and assaulted the woman.

The female moped rider suffered neck injuries and received medical attention in hospital.

The attack happened between 3.45pm and 4pm on Wednesday, July 2.

PC Gareth Davies is the investigating officer in the case.

He said: ‘This was an unprovoked violent attack on an innocent member of the public.

‘We are appealing for witnesses to what happened.’
