A MAN has been arrested after more than 50 cars were damaged overnight in Portsmouth.

Cars parked in Watts Road, Turner Road and Wingfield Street had their tyres slashed between midnight on Friday and about 7am today.

Officers investigating the crime have arrested a 31-year-old man from Portsmouth who is now in police custody.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: ‘We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious.

‘If you haven’t already spoken to an officer, please call us on 101 with the details.’

Tonight officers will be patrolling in the streets affected by the vandalism.
