A MOTORCYCLIST was seriously hurt in a crash.

The man in his 60s, from Gosport, was riding a Honda motorbike which collided with a Vauxhall Corsa on the roundabout above junction 11 of the M27 near Fareham.

Police and Hampshire and Isle of Wight air ambulance were called to the scene following the crash at about 11.40am today.

The carriageway on the roundabout was closed briefly to allow the air ambulance to land and take off.

However the rider was eventually taken to hospital by road ambulance. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The Corsa driver, a Portchester woman in her early 20s, was uninjured.

One lane of the roundabout remained closed to allow the emergency services to respond to the incident and was re-opened at around 1.20pm.

The main carriageway of the motorway beneath was unaffected.
