A DRIVER who lost control of his car and ploughed into a garden has been fined hundreds of pounds.

Jon Bowyer was driving a Ford Focus in Sinah Lane, Hayling Island, when he took a corner too quickly and skidded off the road.

The 22-year-old’s car damaged a property’s garden gate along with two trailers and a boat which were in the garden.

But instead of leaving his details he reversed and drove off after the crash on April 25 this year.

Bowyer, of Westgate Close, in Basingstoke, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention.

He also admitted failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an accident when he appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

He was fined £300 and told to pay £100 in costs.

Bowyer also had nine penalty points added to his driving licence.
