DRINK-DRIVER Alan Gilbert has been banned from the roads.

Gilbert pleaded guilty to committing the offence while driving a Vauxhall Meriva in Avon Close, Lee-on-the-Solent, where he lives.

A test revealed his breath contained 79mcg of alcohol per 100ml. The legal limit is 35mcg.

Gilbert was told to pay £360 in a fine and costs.

The 51-year-old was banned from getting behind the wheel for 20 months when he appeared at Fareham Magistrates’ Court.
