STEALING a £3.50 bottle of wine has landed thief Linda Canning with a four-week curfew.

The 35-year-old took the alcohol from McColls in Havant.

At the time of the offence she had a conditional discharge hanging over her for a previous shoplifting incident, when she stole a bottle of vodka from Lidl in Havant.

Unemployed Canning, of Stockheath Road, Havant, pleaded guilty to theft.

And she also admitted breaching the conditional discharge when she appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

She will now have to wear an electronic tag and remain at home between 7pm and 7am every day for the next four weeks.

Canning was also told to pay £85 in costs and £3.50 in compensation to McColls.
