TWO groups of friends will stand trial over a mass brawl.

The nine were charged after a fight in Somers Road, Southsea, between a group of white teenagers and some men from Bangladesh.

Mainul Alom, 35, of Belmont Street, Southsea, Ariful Laskar, 23, of Malta Road, Buckland, Rezaul Laskar, 30, of St James’s Road, Southsea and Fahim Ahmed, 18, of Earlsdon Street, Southsea, are charged with violent disorder.

Ricky Almy, 18, of Warwick Crescent, Southsea, is facing the same charge along with two 17-year-olds, a 16-year-old and a 15-year-old who cannot be identified for legal reasons.

All nine have pleaded not guilty to the offence which dates back to last May.

They are due to go on trial at Portsmouth Crown Court in July.
