PROSECUTORS have decided to take no action against a man and a woman in connection with the death of a baby boy.

A 21-year-old woman and 34-year-old man were arrested last year following the unexplained death of the three-month old last year.

The baby was discovered not breathing at a home in Hillsley Road, Paulsgrove, at about 5am on October 10 last year.

He was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham but he was pronounced dead about half-an-hour after arriving.

Following the investigation the Crown Prosecution Service – in consultation with the police – has decided to take no further action.

The case has now been passed over to the coroner who will hold an inquest into the baby’s death.

In a statement Hampshire Police said: ‘A 21-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man from the Paulsgrove area, who were initially arrested in connection with this incident, have now been released from police bail. The matter has now been passed to the coroner.’
