POLICE are hunting for a man who exposed himself to an 11-year-old girl on her way home from shopping with friends.

The girl reported to police that she was walking home along Canal Walk on her way home from Commercial Road.

As she entered the footbridge between Durham Street and Greetham Street, she noticed a man stood alone smiling at her.

The man then unzipped his trousers and exposed himself.

Frightened, the girl ran back the way she had come.

The incident happened at around 1.15pm on December 28, but police have only just released details.

PC Charlotte Pocock, of Fratton CID, said: ‘We want to hear from anyone who might have any information about the man in the description.

‘Were you in the area at the time? Do you remember seeing anything suspicious?’

The man was white, with tanned skin, around 40 years old, and had a medium build.

He was around 5ft 10ins tall, with short ginger-blond hair which was short and scruffy.

He had a slight moustache which matched his hair colour and was unkempt in appearance.

Information should go to PC Pocock on 101 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
