POLICE are appealing for information about a Portsmouth man who has been missing from his home for almost a week.

Robert Porter, 42, was last seen when he left his house on Sovereign Drive, in Southsea, around 3pm last Thursday, February 10.

Hampshire’s police helicopter was called out to search Milton Common and the surrounding areas on Sunday but the location or Mr Porter remains unknown.

He is described as white, five foot 11 inches tall, of medium build, unshaven and usually wears his hair cropped and shaven.

Mr Porter was wearing a brown jacket, brown t-shirt, navy blue jeans and black boots when he left his home.

PC Claire Marston, from Portsmouth Targeted Patrol team, said: ‘Robert has been missing for several days now and we, and his family, are growing concerned for his welfare.

‘He usually spends time around Southsea and this is where we concentrated our initial search.

‘On Sunday afternoon, we called in the force helicopter to search the area around Milton Common. We’ve also been speaking to his friends, local businesses and taxi firms but so far no-one has seen him.

‘We’re now releasing his picture in the hope that someone out there has spotted Robert or knows where he is.’

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Marston at Southsea police station on 101 or 0845 045 45 45 from outside Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
